The School

Daiglen School is a small mixed independent preparatory school for children aged from 3 to 11.

The aim for any independent prep school is to prepare children for their future education and our pupils are extremely successful at entry to competitive senior schools, but that is by no means our only measure of success. In a rapidly changing world, we aim to equip our boys and girls with the skills to succeed in an environment where knowledge is soon out of date.

We aspire to instil in them the emotional intelligence and resilience with which to tackle all of life’s challenges and academic success follows as a matter of course. Each year, our Year 6 leavers win places at the most prestigious local senior schools and gain scholarships for art, music and sport as well as a good proportion of academic scholarships. But of far greater importance is that our pupils leave us with a love of learning, a passion for life and the confidence and skills to embrace each new challenge.

During their time with us their individual talents and interests are nurtured and developed by inspirational, specialist staff, who value each unique child in their care. We hear from parents all the time that Daiglen is an extremely special place to learn. Visitors and regulars alike, comment on the friendly, warm feel of the school and the delightful, well-mannered pupils. Daiglen is a very happy school and it is a happy child that learns best. Our pupils make lifelong friends and generations of the same family return so that their children can enjoy the same fond memories of their schooldays when they grow up.

Ultimately our pupils leave confident in themselves and their ability to interact with others, enthused about life and ready to make their next steps into the bigger world of senior schools.

Founded in 1916, the school is built around an elegant Victorian house and is pleasantly situated on the borders of Epping Forest, near Chigwell in Essex. Modern features include a gymnasium/hall, art room, science laboratory and ICT suite.
