Sport and PE

“Specialist teaching in PE ensures excellent breadth to the children’s learning.” ISI Inspection 2014

The School has a very active Sports Department that offers instruction in gymnastics, athletics, swimming, cross country, football, cricket, short tennis, table tennis, rounders, netball, hockey, dance, basketball and tag rugby. Visits to a nearby activity centre during Year 5 and a residential adventure week for Year 6 provides an introduction to archery, fencing, rock climbing, orienteering, caving, abseiling and quad-biking to name but a few. A bi-annual skiing holiday is open to pupils from Year 4 to Year 6. Children receive expert tuition and parents are welcome to accompany the party.

Each class has a weekly PE lesson. Games lessons are also weekly and for Juniors these usually take place off site at the Olympic Copper Box arena. Swimming lessons commence in Year 2. All pupils are involved in Sports Day and have an opportunity to represent their House in annual football, swimming, rounders, netball and cricket competitions. Sporting teams represent the school in local and sometimes national competitions, and their successes highlight the very high standard of tuition available at Daiglen.
